Do the procedures hurt?
One of the main advantages of Surgery is that there is very little
discomfort
involved with the process. Local or complete anesthetic is given before
surgery to numb the areas which will be effected. In the case of Face
Lifts and Rhinoplasty the surgery itself can take several hours. For
Face Lifts the incisions are usually made around the hair line at the
temples, passing down in front of the ear and continue behind the earlobes
so that most scarring is out of sight and hidden behind the ears.
In the case of removing fatty tissue from around the chin and neck area
an incision is usually made out of sight under the chin or neck area,
the fatty tissue is then drawn out in a similar fashion to liposuction.
The surgeon will then reshape and re-tighten the muscles around the
chin and neck and remove any access skin.
What can I expect after the procedure?
Each patient is different, and it depends on the type of surgery undertaken
For Patients with more effected areas being treated at the same time,
it may take a little longer for them to achieve full recovery. With
Face Lifts Most face lift operations initially cause bruising and swelling
to the effected areas and any pain is usually treated with pain killers
or other medication. Most patients will be able to return to work after
14 days.
Why does the price vary so much?
Like most major purchases, it is possible to pay too much for Surgery.
Surgery should be a carefully considered decision, since this procedure
will determine how you look and feel for the rest of your life.
What are the risks?
As with any medical procedure, the possibility of complications always
exists, but problems associated with Cosmetic Surgery tend to be relatively
minor and temporary. The most common complications and are easily treated,
usually at no extra cost to the patient.
How quickly will I be able to see effects of the surgery?
The change will be almost immediate however it generally takes about
2 to 4 weeks weeks for the treated areas to settle down fully.
How long will the operation take?
About 1 to 2 hours depending upon the actual procedure required but
all operations are in general completed as quickly as possible.
Will I need time off work following the operation?
With most types of Cosmetic Surgery some time will be needed following
the operation to recover. This time depends very much on the type of
surgery, the Areas treated, and your general health. You will be advised
as to the expected duration of any recommended post operative rest period.
Is the operation permanent?
Yes the results of the operation are permanent.
Can you guarantee the results of the operation?
It is not possible for anyone to guarantee the results of any operation
as each individual case is different, and many complications can arise
either during or post operative. The risks are no greater risks with
cosmetic surgery than with any other type of surgery. If it is considered
by the surgeon that further adjusting operations are required then this
is normally done at no additional cost.
Who is NOT suitable for surgery?
In general terms people who suffer from General Health problems, poorly
controlled diabetics and people under the age of 18.
